As part of a Food Waste prevention campaign I designed images for informing the public about the Brown Bins that were being rolled out to most households in Ireland. They were used in conjunction with radio ads.
The style was informed by an overall campaign that I had worked on called ‘Back to Basics‘ and used a fifties look that my clients liked. I love the tones and the style of retro, but there is always the issue of undertones that ‘women should be in the home and always look amazing’. We figured that because it was so illustrative that aspect could be hopefully ignored and instead the upbeat, playfulness be the primary aspect of the images.
The women at Weareobeo.com picked up on it, but were able to look beyond it as you can read in their blog post below.
